A Charm to Form an Alliance with the Trees
When Summer falters before its flight, go on an evening of full moonlight, and cut from the oak tree one true branch,Thick with leaves and acorns bunched. Then where a woos grows dense and dark, stand at its edge and the oak bough shake - saying these words to the ranks of trees, that their strength may be yours for whatever you please:
With oakI lead
That ash may follow
Also alder
Elm and willow
Cedar and locust
Hickory and Larch,
Walnut, chestnut
Poplar, birch,
Beech and maple
Fir and pine:
All these powers
so be mine.
Then hang the oak bough over your door, taking one acorn from its store to be sewn up ia a chamois skin, safe to be kept for what you would win.

Summer's Here Again
Just a quickie note to say hi! Hi!
Loads of summer stuff up on site at the moment.
Had loads of fun playing with all the inflatables, my favourite has to be the Turtle.
Sorry to all the International Bidders on my auctions, I had to cancel some bids due to weight and size issues, some of the toys were coming out at £40.00 to send. I've had a good look at the International Product range now and have gone for stuff that'll be easily sendable.
That said if you have to have message through ebay and I'll quote you, usually through DHL Express.
Happy Hunting PS Have a look at the wetsuits all sizes available!

Happy Valentines Day

Hundreds of years ago in England, many children dressed up as adults on Valentine's Day.
They went singing from home to home.
One verse they sang was:
Good morning to you, valentine;Curl your locks as I do mine
---Two before and three behind.Good morning to you, valentine.
In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favourite decorations on the spoons.
The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart!"
In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling. .
Pick a dandelion that has gone to seed. Take a deep breath and blow the seeds into the wind. Count the seeds that remain on the stem. That is the number of children you will have.
Have a look around our pages we have a few gifts in our eBay Store that you'll like.... ClickHere for Valentines Day Gifts

New Stock Added to eBay and Webshop

We have a new range of bargain books available from just 99p.
You'll need to have a look as they are selling quick. We've extended our range to iclude books froma variety of categories including Non-fiction ready for those Christmas presents, from 99p I might add.
From December we have Tales of Beedle the Bard - Email us to reserve a copy @ £3.49
In December 2007, J.K. Rowling unveiled The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a very special book of five fairy tales illustrated by the bard herself, embellished with silver ornaments and mounted moonstones. J.K. Rowling is giving millions of Harry Potter fans worldwide cause for celebration with a new edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, available December 4, 2008.
Offering the trademark wit and imagination familiar to Rowling's legions of readers--as well as Aesop's wisdom and the occasional darkness of the Brothers Grimm--each of these five tales reveals a lesson befitting children and parents alike: the strength gained with a trusted friendship, the redemptive power of love, and the true magic that exists in the hearts of all of us. Rowling's new introduction also comments on the personal lessons she has taken from the Tales, noting that the characters in Beedle's collection "take their fates into their own hands, rather than taking a prolonged nap or waiting for someone to return a lost shoe," and "that magic causes as much trouble as it cures."
But the true jewel of this new edition is the enlightening and comprehensive commentary (including extensive footnotes!) by Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, who brings his unique wizard's-eye perspective to the collection. Discovered "among the many papers which Dumbledore left in his will to the Hogwarts Archives," the venerable wizard's ruminations on the Tales allow today's readers to place them in the context of 16th century Muggle society, even allowing that "Beedle was somewhat out of step with his times in preaching a message of brotherly love for Muggles" during the era of witch hunts that would eventually drive the wizarding community into self-imposed exile. In fact, versions of the same stories told in wizarding households would shock many for their uncharitable treatment of their Muggle characters.
Professor Dumbledore also includes fascinating historical backstory, including tidbits such as the history and pursuit of magic wands, a brief comment on the Dark Arts and its practitioners, and the struggles with censorship that eventually led "a certain Beatrix Bloxam" to cleanse the Tales of "much of the darker themes that she found distasteful," forever altering the meaning of the stories for their Muggle audience. Dumbledore also allows us a glimpse of his personal relationship to the Tales, remarking that it was through "Babbity Rabbity and Her Cackling Stump" that "many of us [wizards] first discovered that magic could not bring back the dead."
Both a wise and delightful addition to the Harry Potter canon, this new translation of The Tales of Beedle the Bard is all that fans could hope for and more--and an essential volume for the libraries of Muggles, wizards, and witches, both young and old.

Dr Who Silence in the Library

Brilliant episode tonight really enjoyed it. You know -what I've got a weird feeling that River Song might be the new Dr Who.
Why? God knows just a feeling. A bit like Janeway as a character from Voyager. We'll have to wait and see.
Here's a link to the officail site where you can get images and see trailers.
Cheers

There's loads of new features on here so have a good click around. I'll be adding more content on here very soon, and I'm sure Claire will find her blogging feet in the next few days.

Trudi Canavan

Just bringing together list of favourite authors that we're gonna stock. My personal fave is Trudi Canavan http://www.trudicanavan.com/ . Her world Kyralia is High Saga with a rich, detailed view of society from thieves to Lords. Sorcery and spells, fights and thieves and ultimately good versus evil are themes throughout her work.
The really fantastic news is that at this very moment she's in the middle of more to come:
The Magician’s Apprentice(Prequel to the Black Magician Trilogy)
Kyralia is home to many magicians and their apprentices. Tessia dreams only of following in her father's footsteps, but women do not become Healers and all she can hope for is to become an assistant. When her father is visiting their town’s Magician, Tessia is cornered by a visiting Sachakan magician who assumes he can treat Kyralian servants like the women slaves of his homeland. In fighting him off, she manifests a natural magical ability.
Tessia must become an apprentice magician or she will be exiled to protect the village from her uncontrolled powers. As she learns, Sachakan magicians intent on reclaiming the lands their empire once ruled make increasingly vicious attacks on Kyralian and Elyne villages, and Tessia finds both her skills as a magician and healer are in demand. And as the Magicians of Kyralia come together to defend their land, all wonder how they can possibly win a war against the powerful and ancient Sachakan Empire.
The Traitor Spy Trilogy(Sequel to the Black Magician Trilogy)
Book 1: The Ambassadors’ Mission
Book 2: The Rogue
Book 3: The Traitor Queen
Sonea is horrified when her son, a year past graduation, volunteers to join a group of Guild Ambassadors traveling to Sachaka. When word comes that he has gone missing she is desperate to search for him, but she cannot leave without breaking the law that prevents black magicians from leaving Imardin.
When Cery comes to her for help after most of his family has been murdered, she learns that the Thieves have been waging a deadly underworld war for several years. Suspicious deaths have the Guild worrying that rogue magicians may be involved.
Gillia, a novice from the servant class, is mostly ignored in the wars between low and high class novices. She and her best friend are more interested in hidden knowledge. When her friend finds books on black magic they both can’t resist experimenting.
And Lorkin, Sonea and Akkarin’s son, learns that the black magicians of Sachaka are not the only dangerous and secretive power within that ancient and wasted land.
In terms of publication dates we're looking at a submission deadline of March 08 for The Magician's apprentice. Publication late 08?

Submission deadline March 09. Publication late 09? The Traitor Queen: Due to start writing book 3 March 09. Submission deadline March 10. Publication late 10?
The Traitor Spy Trilogy: The Ambassador's Mission: Due to start writing book 1 March 07. Submission deadline March 08. Publication late 08? The Rogue: Due to start writing book 2 March 08. Submission deadline March 09. Publication late 09? The Traitor Queen: Due to start writing book 3 March 09. Submission deadline March 10. Publication late 10?

Spell Singer the novel by Alan Dean Foster

Spellsinger
It has all the things that make a great fantasy novel: the battle of good against evil, an unwilling hero, Jon Tom, reaches within himself for his inner strength to overcome great adversity, lots of twists and turn before the conflict is finally resolved. What makes the Spellsinger different is Foster's use of common things (music, talking animals) to achieve these goals. Other books by Foster include:
Nor Crystal Tears
Before Man and insectlike Thranx had become allies, when the reptilian AAnn were just occasional raiders of Thranx colony worlds, one young Thranx agricultural expert lived a life of quiet desperation. A dreamer in a world of sensible, stable beings, Ryo buried himself in his work -- reclaiming marshland from a tenacious jungle -- until he came across a letter describing a relative's encounter with horrid, two-legged, soft-skinned space-going beasts...
Pip and Flinx
Moth was a beautiful planet, the only one with wings -- two great golden clouds suspended in space around it. Here was a wide-open world for any venture a man might scheme. The planet attracted unwary travelers, hardened space-sailors, and merchant buccaneers -- a teeming, constantly shifting horde that provided a comfortable income for certain quick-witted fellows like Phillip Linx known to his friends as Flix, an orphan sold at the Drallar slave markets and his pet flying snake Pip. With his odd talents, the pickings were easy enough so that Flinx did not have to be dishonest ... most of the time. In fact, it hardly seemed dishonest at all to steal a starmap from a dead body that didn't really need it anymore. But Flinx wasn't quite smart enough. He should have wondered why the body was dead in the first place... The first book, "Nor Crystal Tears," provides the setting and history behind Flinx's universe.

The tall herdsman/warrior Etjole Ehomba of the Naumkib tribe lives by the sea. When a number of strange warriors wash up dead on the sand, only the nobleman Tarin Beckwith survives long enough to whisper a dying request: It seems that the Visioness Themaryl of Laconda has been abducted by Hymneth the Possessed and carried off to the remote land of Ehl-Larimar. Etjole accepts the dead man's entreaty to rescue her, and sets off on a very long journey. Along the way he aquires a sidekick, the garrulous treasure-hunter Simna Ibn Sind and he saves Ahlitah, a large black cat--part lion, part cheetah--who feels obligated, and joins the expedition. Oh, did I mention that Etjole can also speak to animals? He can.

For hundreds of years, the globe-spanning rain forest of Midworld sustained a peaceful primitive society. Then, the aliens came. Ignorant of Midworld's Upper and Lower Hell, they were taught by the natives to survive. But the visitors have destructive plans for Midworld--and the natives will have to take desperate measures.
